About the Role

The Brand Consultant plays a key role in delivering high-quality brand strategy for founders, executive teams, and mid-market organisations navigating pivotal moments of change. Working as part of a structured delivery team, you contribute across discovery, insight synthesis, and strategic development—operating confidently within MistryX’s established methodologies and systems.

You will support and contribute to discovery activities, synthesise qualitative and quantitative inputs, develop strategic narratives, and help translate insight into positioning and messaging frameworks that inform business and brand decisions. You will manage assigned workstreams with discipline and clarity, collaborating closely with Senior Consultants and Managing Partners to maintain momentum and quality across engagements.

This role suits a developing strategist with strong analytical thinking, growing client maturity, and the ability to work effectively within structured frameworks. You are comfortable operating with guidance, take ownership of defined responsibilities, and contribute meaningfully to complex projects.

Engagement Horizon: Initial engagement expected to span 6–12 months, subject to project pipeline and mutual fit

Compensation: Hourly rate, aligned to active client work

IR35 Status (UK): Engagement is structured as outside IR35, subject to individual assessment. International applicants are engaged under equivalent independent contractor arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of brand strategy engagements by contributing across discovery, analysis, and strategic development activities.
  • Conduct and synthesise qualitative and quantitative research, including stakeholder interviews, perception surveys, and market and competitor analysis, under clear strategic direction.
  • Develop and refine strategic inputs that inform positioning, narrative, and messaging frameworks, contributing to the evolution of client-facing recommendations.
  • Translate insights into well-structured draft deliverables, working within established formats such as Brand Platforms, Positioning Territories, and Messaging Architecture.
  • Prepare materials for client meetings and review sessions, contributing to discussions with clarity and confidence alongside Senior Consultants and Managing Partners.
  • Collaborate with analysts, associates, and senior team members to support research, synthesis, and deliverable preparation across workstreams.
  • Work closely with Senior Consultants to maintain momentum, quality, and consistency across assigned project delivery areas.
  • Manage assigned tasks and workstreams with discipline and reliability, aligning delivery to MistryX frameworks, tools, and ways of working.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal Brand Consultant is a structured thinker with strong analytical capability and a growing strategic mindset. You bring experience in brand strategy, consulting, marketing strategy, or adjacent disciplines, and you are comfortable contributing to complex strategic work within clearly defined frameworks.

You are confident synthesising insight, developing structured inputs, and translating ambiguity into clarity at a workstream level. You communicate clearly and professionally, manage your time and priorities with discipline, and demonstrate a high standard of craft in both thinking and execution. You are comfortable working alongside senior consultants and partners, contributing meaningfully to client engagements without needing to own strategic direction or decision-making authority.

You may have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • 2–5+ years’ experience across brand, marketing, consulting, research, copywriting, communications, or adjacent strategic disciplines
  • Experience contributing to discovery, research, insight synthesis, and strategic development within structured projects
  • Exposure to brand strategy, positioning, messaging, business analysis, or customer insight work, either agency-side, consultancy-side, or in-house

We are looking for someone who:

  • Writes and communicates with clarity, precision, and structure
  • Can synthesise complex inputs into clear insights, frameworks, and draft narratives
  • Is comfortable working with ambiguity and translating it into organised, usable outputs
  • Contributes confidently in internal and client-facing discussions alongside more senior team members
  • Manages their time effectively across multiple tasks and workstreams
  • Maintains high standards of quality under pressure and handles competing priorities with maturity
  • Brings curiosity, critical thinking, and strategic empathy to problem-solving
  • Produces clean, well-structured slides and written materials suitable for senior review
  • Works reliably within defined delivery frameworks, processes, and ways of working
  • Brings a developing strategic “strength” (e.g. research synthesis, narrative development, copywriting, analysis, facilitation support, positioning thinking)
  • Is proficient with Google Suite; familiarity with ClickUp is a plus

Success in This Role Looks Like

  • Consistently producing clear, well-structured research, insights, and draft deliverables that support confident client decision-making.
  • Contributing effectively to client meetings and review sessions through well-prepared materials, thoughtful input, and clear communication alongside senior team members.
  • Delivering assigned workstreams on time and to a high standard, with minimal rework and strong attention to detail.
  • Supporting team collaboration by sharing insights, responding constructively to feedback, and maintaining clarity across handovers and iterations.
  • Building trust internally through reliability, sound judgement within scope, and disciplined execution across engagements.
