About The Role
The Director of Client Strategy is the senior client-facing delivery lead responsible for ensuring strategic excellence, alignment, and quality across all MistryX engagements. You will oversee multiple client relationships, provide strategic oversight across projects, guide consultants and associates, and act as the Client Partner for founders and executive teams navigating pivotal moments of change.
This role blends brand strategy fluency, client leadership, and oversight of strategic delivery. You will ensure that every engagement maintains clarity, structure, and momentum — from discovery through to definition and activation — while safeguarding the integrity of MistryX’s strategic approach. You will act as a quality and coherence guardian, reviewing and signing off on key deliverables, shaping strategic narratives, and ensuring that MistryX’s standards are upheld at every stage.
This position suits an experienced strategist with strong client maturity, excellent communication skills, and the ability to steward complex brand strategy engagements with confidence, judgement, and calm authority.
Engagement Horizon: Initial engagement expected to span 12 months, subject to project pipeline and mutual fit
Compensation: Hourly rate, aligned to active client work
IR35 Status (UK): Engagement is structured as outside IR35, subject to individual assessment. International applicants are engaged under equivalent independent contractor arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Client Partner across multiple concurrent engagements, owning senior client relationships and serving as the primary point of strategic alignment and trust.
- Provide strategic oversight across all active projects, ensuring clarity, structure, momentum, and coherence from discovery through definition and activation.
- Guide consultants and associates with clear strategic direction, constructive feedback, and developmental support, ensuring work meets MistryX’s judgement and quality standards.
- Synthesise insights from discovery, research, and stakeholder inputs to shape and stress-test core strategic hypotheses and recommendations.
- Review, refine, and sign off on key deliverables, including Brand Platforms, Positioning Strategy, Messaging Architecture, and workshop outputs, ensuring strategic integrity and narrative clarity.
- Lead and facilitate workshops, executive sessions, and alignment discussions with confidence, presence, and sound strategic judgement.
- Work closely with Managing Partners to align on strategic direction, escalation decisions, and client pathways, while operating with delegated authority on a day-to-day basis.
- Maintain clear, disciplined communication rhythms with clients and internal teams, ensuring expectations are well-managed and progress remains transparent.
- Uphold and apply MistryX’s delivery methodologies and frameworks, ensuring consistency and quality across all workstreams.
- Contribute to the ongoing refinement of internal systems, workflows, and strategic frameworks to support sustainable excellence as MistryX scales.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal Director of Client Strategy is a senior, client-facing strategist with the presence, clarity, and maturity to steward complex engagements end-to-end. You understand how to operate in multi-stakeholder environments, synthesise complex inputs, and guide both clients and teams through structured, calm decision-making.
You bring depth in brand strategy, consulting, or adjacent strategic disciplines, and are confident leading high-stakes conversations with founders, CEOs, and executive teams. You balance strategic rigour with delivery discipline, maintaining momentum and confidence in moments of ambiguity.
You may have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. business, marketing, strategy, communications) or equivalent professional experience
- 5–10+ years’ experience in brand strategy, marketing strategy, management consulting, or closely related strategic disciplines
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing senior client relationships within strategy-led engagements
- A strong grounding in brand, positioning, messaging, or commercial strategy, with the ability to apply strategic thinking in client contexts
- Experience working across multi-stakeholder environments and guiding clients through complex, high-judgement decisions

- Works effectively within established systems, processes, and delivery frameworks
- Is comfortable using Google Workspace tools; familiarity with Miro and ClickUp is a plus
