About the Role

The Senior Brand Consultant plays a central role in shaping, leading, and delivering high-quality brand strategy for founders, executive teams, and mid-market organisations navigating pivotal moments of change. Acting as the day-to-day lead on client engagements, you take ownership of delivery across discovery, insight synthesis, and strategic development—working confidently within MistryX’s structured methodologies and systems.

You will lead discovery, synthesise insights, frame strategic narratives, and develop positioning and messaging systems that guide business, brand, and commercial decisions. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, self-managing project work, coordinating contributors, and maintaining momentum—while reporting into the Managing Partners, who retain final strategic authority and approval.

This role suits a seasoned strategist with strong client maturity, structured thinking, and the confidence to take ownership of complex projects, bring clarity to ambiguous environments, and drive progress decisively within established strategic frameworks.

Engagement Horizon: Initial engagement expected to span 6–12 months, subject to project pipeline and mutual fit

Compensation: Hourly rate, aligned to active client work

IR35 Status (UK): Engagement is structured as outside IR35, subject to individual assessment. International applicants are engaged under equivalent independent contractor arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to brand strategy engagements from discovery through to definition.
  • Conduct and synthesise stakeholder interviews, perception surveys, market and competitor analysis.
  • Develop positioning strategies, brand narratives, messaging frameworks, and strategic recommendations.
  • Translate insights into structured deliverables, including Brand Platforms, Positioning Territories, and Messaging Architecture.
  • Facilitate client meetings, review sessions, and senior-level discussions with clarity, control, and grounding.
  • Guide analysts and junior team members through research, synthesis, and deliverable preparation.
  • Collaborate closely with the managing partners to shape strategic direction, narrative framing, and client outcomes.
  • Maintain pace, discipline, and quality across concurrent workstreams using established MistryX systems.

What We’re Looking For

The ideal Senior Brand Consultant is a structured thinker with strong strategic judgement and the ability to distil ambiguity into clarity. You bring experience in consulting, brand strategy, marketing strategy, or adjacent strategic disciplines, and you can confidently guide senior stakeholders through complex decisions. You communicate with calm authority, manage multiple streams of work, and demonstrate a high level of craft in both thinking and delivery.

You may have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 5-10+ years of experience in brand strategy, consulting, or strategic marketing roles
  • Experience leading discovery, synthesising insights, and framing strategic decisions

We are looking for someone who:

  • Writes and communicates with precision, clarity, and structure
  • Can create frameworks, models, and narratives from complex inputs
  • Demonstrates strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills across complex clients
  • Has experience in leading client engagements and acting as a trusted advisor in their work
  • Is familiar with project management tools and can manage their time effectively to deliver client outcomes
  • Maintains high standards under pressure and manages competing priorities with maturity
  • Brings depth, critical thinking, and strategic empathy to client interactions
  • Has strong presentation craft and can produce clean, strategic decks
  • Works reliably within structured systems, processes, and delivery rhythms
  • Brings a strategic “superpower” (e.g., narrative development, research synthesis, facilitation, positioning design)
  • Is proficient with Google Suite; familiarity with ClickUp is a plus
